Information and Resources for Visual Art and History of Art

Find Inspiration at Wallace Library

The Library is chock full of information, ideas, images, and stories--all of which can serve as inspiration for artists. Below are some ideas of how to mine our collections for inspiration.

Finding Inspiration in the Works of Others

Search the Library Catalog for a particular artist, movement, style, format, etc. to find books with images of the works of other artists. We also have databases with images of artworks.

Browsing Recent Issues of Art Magazines

Browsing recent issues of popular art magazines is a great source of inspiration as well as a great way to keep abreast of what is happening in the world of art. The Library has print subscriptions to several art magazines that can be found on the Periodicals Level in the Current Periodicals Area. Grab a comfy chair and flip through some magazines at your leisure.
