Open Educational Resources

Your guide to finding and using open educational resources

Welcome!

The copyright issues that surround using OER can seem overwhelming at first. The Copyright section of this guide is designed to help you understand the basics of copyright and navigate the various copyright considerations around OER. The Copyright FAQ section covers copyright basics, the TEACH Act, and copyright in an educational setting. As most OERs are most commonly licensed with Creative Commons Copyright Tools, we have included an FAQ to help you understand the different licenses and the elements they cover. Finally, the Copyright and OER page looks at navigating copyright when adopting, adapting and authoring OER. As always, your librarians are here to help!

Note: This guide focuses primarily on US Copyright Law unless otherwise noted. It was compiled by librarians and is informational only; it does not constitute legal advice.
