Jenny Castel is the Instruction and Technology Librarian at Wallace Library. In addition to providing in-class information literacy and tech instruction, she can also help you find library resources and materials, and strengthen your search skills through one-on-one research consultations. She supports the academic departments in the Science Division.

Jenny is passionate about the potential of learning, information, and technology as well as open education and open pedagogy. She believes that the free and unfettered access to education, learning, and learning materials is one path (of many) toward dismantling systems of oppression within higher education and beyond.

Jenny holds a Master’s Degree in English from American University in Washington, DC and an MLIS from the University of Rhode Island. Before joining the team in the Wallace Library, Jenny supported the students and faculty for five years at Johnson & Wales University Library in Providence, RI as a reference librarian. She continues to teach writing to online students at Johnson & Wales. When not in the library or teaching, Jenny can be found fixing up her 155 year old home, walking with her dog on the beach or in the woods, or spending time with her three kids and husband.
